At the moment this is being written, news is just coming in that Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba is in a stable condition in hospital. Many of us learned via Twitter this afternoon that the former England Under-21 man had collapsed on the pitch just before half time during his side's FA Cup tie at White Hart Lane. For several hours it wasn't known whether he was alive or dead.
When an incident or news item stimulates widespread and immediate public concern, our Twitter time lines rapidly become flooded with messages of support. While writing a supportive tweet is such an easy and disposable act that it can sometimes seem trite and insincere, in this case it really does look clear that people are genuinely shocked at the thought of an apparently healthy young man being stricken so unexpectedly. Thoughts everywhere turn to the player, his family and his shocked team mates. Among football supporters, rivalries are put aside and interest in the day's fixtures and results is instantly eclipsed. While it could be argued that it's a shame that the world's bigger and more constant tragedies do not always elicit expressions of outrage and compassion, it is understandable that it takes something rather closer to home to get this kind of reaction.
Today's shocking event at White Hart Lane seems espcially close to home, perhaps, for those of us who travelled up to the Reebok Stadium to watch QPR succumb to a more fortunate and more determined Bolton side just a week ago. An apparently fit and healthy Patrice Muamba ran onto the pitch late in the game.
The zillions of tweets about Muamba, then, really resonate, be they written by well-known footballers and sports journalists or by Joe and Joanna Public. It's like a tidal wave of shock and compassion.
But perhaps it goes without saying that incidents like this do not bring out the best in everyone. Take one Liam Stacey, a student at Swansea University who plays rugby for Treorchy RFC, if his Twitter profile is to be believed. Liam describes himself as a "Top Bloke":
Does a "top bloke" really carry on as Liam has today, though? He has said a lot of pretty unsavoury things.
Clearly a proud Welshman, he will be celebrating his country's rugby Grand Slam triumph by ensuring that Wind Street, which is at the heart of Swansea's night-life, "is getting banged in the cunt and arse" tonight. Look out, ladies of south Wales. A charming man is on the loose.
While getting involved in various slanging matches, Liam has also advised a couple of his opponents to "go suck a nigger dick" and "go suck muamba's dead black dick". This is in addition to tweeting "LOL. Fuck Muamba he's dead !!! #Haha"
Reading this, you might be moved to wonder whether Swansea University has a code of conduct for its students and, if so, whether the comments above might possibly be in breach of that code. Surely someone clever enough to go to university is not stupid enough to put his place there at risk by tweeting stuff like this in his own name and with his picture on display? Could this play out badly for Mr. Stacey? Could it follow him around when he applies for jobs in this difficult employment market? Time will tell.
Another absolute charmer who has shown his true colours in the twitter storm around the collapse of the unfortunate Bolton player is one Oliver Warren, apparently a 20-year old man from Derby. Oliver describes himself as "silly" and "YOUNGGG DUMBBB ANDDD FULLLLL OFFFFF CUMMMMM". His sperm count must remain a matter of conjecture, but he is certainly on the money with the "DUMBBB" part.
As well as tweeting "Where's Muamba gone, Where's Muamba gone?" and "Why's every1 bummin upto Muamba!!!" he remonstrated in the most vile, misogynistic and violent terms to a female tweeter who expressed her outrage: "Oi ya little sket ill shove a stanley knife up ya big fat smelly fanny! He only had a runny nose u daft bitch!!"
Nice one, Oliver of Derby. When someone has a justified pop at you for your hateful bullshit you respond with a threat of genital mutilation. If things proceed as they should, you'll be receiving a visit from the police some time soon.
So while all right-thinking people were crossing their fingers or saying their prayers for the Wanderers midfielder, some utter tools were showing what kind of lowlife they really are.
Not for the first time, we see that horrible incidents bring out the decency in most people and the spite and hatefulness in the woefully inadequate.
Well, I know that I google people if Im hiring. So keep this up. Liam Stacey - Unemployed!
ReplyDeleteRespect!
Delete2 Pricks
ReplyDeleteIt should have been them instead of Muamba
Bet Stacey is shitting bricks now. Claims his account was hacked, yet made racist comments weeks ago.
ReplyDeletenow claiming his account was hacked.. funny that most tweets came from a blackberry! - disgusting scumbag!
ReplyDeleteHe does play for Treorchy's Athletic XV. They should be told.
ReplyDeleteThey've already tweeted his views are not shared by the club, i suggested they make him an ex player......These people are parasites
ReplyDeleteHe claimed his account had been hacked so I thought it might be instructive to look at his previous tweets to see if there's a pattern. As he'd only tweeted 122 times it was the work of seconds to capture the entirety of his timeline into Chirpstory (very useful tool) so here they are - he may have posted one or two after I collected these, can't check however because he's deleted the account: http://chirpstory.com/li/5261
ReplyDeleteAfter checking his facebook page, after 2 minutes of searching his check-ins, you can find his address, his local pub, his parents address and I think its his girlfriends address.... I do hope the police have the basic skills it needs to find this info.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he should think twice before checking in.
They are both prime examples of small minded egotistical misogynistic provincial inbreds.
ReplyDeleteHow is saying stuff about Muamba being dead or racist stuff generally in any way misogynistic (which means the hatred of women)?
DeleteI don't even think many sexists are misogynists... most are just dickheads.
These sorts always end up deleting their accounts:

http://pissingred.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/one-of-less-predictable-things-about.html
Still, they're good blogfodder. On Tuesday we had some girl repeating the Derby-Doughty chants on Twitter. It took me about fifteen seconds to trace her school and headteacher, so I tweeted her to ask what he'd say about her bringing the college into disrepute. Her account no longer exists.
If we keep plugging away, all of us, every time, we'll make these fool stick out like a sore thumb when they try to turn Twitter into a sewer. Keep it up, chaps.
gulp..you are a frightening person, i'd rather have racists running around than judge and jury stalinists like you. the police need to investigate your activities, if you are indeed stalking school children.
Delete^ don't be a pratt all your life and learn to read. Pissing Red was simply exposing people who stir hatred (as far as I am aware, that is a criminal offense).
DeleteYep, Liam's deleted his account now. However @Walken4GOP is quite astoundingly hateful, if outside the UK.
ReplyDeleteI suggest we all email the media in derby and Swansea tomo and forward on this blog & express our disgust.
ReplyDeleteIts @derbyspolice not @derbypolice. I'm getting on to the Derby Evening Telegraph.
DeleteLiam's University is on Twitter as @SwanseaUni, and his rugby club is @TreorchyZebras. If you wish to vent your disgust to these organisations.
ReplyDeleteSad world this. Liam Stacey deserves jail for the things he said on twitter.
ReplyDeleteWhat more can you say really? Genuinely depressing stuff.
Really? Jail? For being a loudmouthed hateful little shitbag?
DeleteIt's a great little world- instead of just being a knob in daily life and persisting for ever in his ignorance, the wonders of modern technology are about to teach Mr Stacey all about interconnectedness and consequences.
Also you can report to the Internet Watch Foundation https://www.iwf.org.uk/ - Derbyshire Police's website points you in the direction of them to report criminal content online. Also suitable for the other charming man mentioned on this page.
ReplyDeleteAnd its @derbypolice on Twitter.
What a complete and utter silly little boy he is. Sadly I am not surprised how vitriolic some people can be. I wonder if its for effect, to claim some sort of notoriety? It seems that those without a shred of decency or compassion hide behind their laptops tweeting obscene things when they feel like it, they think they are safe and faceless and can do what ever they like. But here's news for silly liitle boys like him.... your hate and vitriol and sheer contempt for all that is decent will come back and bite you on the arse, its just a matter of time. It would probably come back and bite you in the balls, however I doubt you have any.
ReplyDeleteLiam Stacey's facebook page is pretty easy to find. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteonly 1 thing concerns me about this blog. Did we lose a war and all of a sudden the freedom to think what you want became illegal. I dont approve of any of the comments made but i would also be damned if the freedom of independent thought had vanished along with all the other parts of this country i so love... Instead of simply ignoring these idiots you have all given them exactly what they sought to obtain... public recognition. My suggestion from now on is that if you read something you dont like on twitter just dont read it again.
ReplyDeleteYes freedom of speech is a good thing but ignoring comments like this won't make our country 'loveable'; and yes it has given them public recognition...but at what cost to them? I abhor this sort of behaviour, I work with 'it' day in day out. I believe everyone has the right to be, but be mindful of others difference and diversity. This country would be great (again) but we have lost our direction. Maybe if we stood up to these bigots and said 'enough' and were positive role models for our up and coming future instead of 'sweeping it under the carpet' as the follies of youth, we may stand a chance...at the moment....well enough said.
DeleteAh, the good old "ignore it and it will go away" stance. Pity it doesn't though. Pity it just lets bigots and worse think they can get away with this sort of disgusting attitude toward another human.
DeleteOn the one hand you are right, however sometimes a boundary is over-stepped.. There is no 'freedom of speech' in the UK, this individual is an illustration of exactly why that is the case. People need to learn very quickly that tweeting or posting on facebook is exactly the same as writing it across your front door - if you wouldn't write it outside you house, don't publish it on the internet!
DeleteAfter reading all his tweets, I am not 100% sure whether the immature fool got hacked or not. Maybe he did get hacked, and got made a fool by a so called friend. If not, then what a idiot. Too many of them in this world.
ReplyDeleteHe must get hacked alot, as there was another lot of racist tweets from 2 weeks earlier. Top and bottom of it is, he did it thinking he was untouchable...a tough keyboard warrior, now currently he's one of the most hated people in Britain.
DeleteAh, yet more upstanding citizens. Got to love how some people tend to turn into big "gangsta's" behind a computer screen, when you know that in reality, if put face to face with the situation they're laughing at -- They'd probably die of shame.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder the older generation have such a lack of respect for the younger ones, now. And it's only going to get worse with the younger generation breeding before they've had a chance to realise they're NOT 12, and not actually that funny/cool/smart etc.
Great blog, by the way. Just discovered it :)
Just send everyting you got to talkback@the-sun.co.uk and mirrornews@mirror.co.uk they will do the rest, then just sit back and wait for the newspaper reports and arrests
ReplyDeleteAnd you can leave comments here too

Its all here too

Swansea University's e=mail address for those who want to express their feelings towards Mr Stacey!!
ReplyDeletewww@swansea.ac.uk
What a dick, the only thing I can say is was it definitely him on the account and not a friend trying to be funny..despite this, whoever wrote it is sick in the head!
ReplyDeleteHe's clearly been 'fraped' or whatever the twitter equivalent is called! Got nothing to do with the university anyway!
ReplyDeleteNice try, Liam's friend.
DeleteOr indeed, Liam...
DeleteSo he was frapped 2 weeks ago when racist comments were on his twitter account then....which he didn't remove? No he's a lowlife who thought he was a brave, untouchable man behind his keyboard....now he's one of the most hated men in Britain.
Deletearrested and in custody
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/#!/swpnorth
Fantastic news. Hope he gets public shaming that hinders him getting work in the future
Delete@LiamStacey9 reportedly arrested. Others have tweeted similarly vile abuse and then either deleted their tweets or closed their accounts or simply blocked critics. Eg @ SuperAlex707 Strange how they all claim to have been hacked, but if you check through their previous tweets (when they were available) certain patterns of abuse emerge. I guess it was just a huge coincidence that racists hackers simultaneously took over the accounts of abusive tweeters all on the same day and posted tweets ridiculing muamba. The reaction against them on here and twitter though has been a positive thing to witness. And it has nothing to do with suppressing free speech, it's about standing up to racist bullies. Thoughts are with Muamba and family. Hope the latter didn't have to witness the vile abuse posted.
ReplyDeleteIncredibly well put.
DeleteI remember seeing @SuperAlex707 tweets on Muamba and scrolled down and saw the same racist abuse by him towards Whitney Hueston. happy some justice is being done with the Liam Stacey case to stop such thuggery
DeleteSickipedia?
ReplyDeleteI am ginger, apparently I have no soul, i stink as do all gingers (so they say) and should have been shot at birth because I am ginger, check out the ginger hate pages on facebook of which I have reported to facebook many times...their reply to me is that FB do not consider them to be racially offensive...unbelieveable and I have to put up with it
ReplyDeleteIn The Sun now
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4203089/Muamba-troll-arrested.html
This boy/man has done wrong and we are all outraged about it but surely it does not give us the right to set up 'pitch fork' mentality and 'hang em high' attitude. I believe someone has publicly posted his address, parents names and sister's school. They may be innocent and whoever has done this has probably terrified them. Surely we have not become braying animals calling for reprisal. Let the law deal with this and let his family be. They are probably ashamed....and as I said before, scared. Please don't take it out on the innocent...we will be no better than him.
ReplyDeleteI grabbed SuperAlex707's tweet timeline here too and I think others have taken screenshots
ReplyDeletehttp://chirpstory.com/li/5265
Chirpstory is an excellent tool for grabbing a large number of tweets very quickly from either a particular user or a hashtag. Normally I use it to capture hashtagged tweets from conferences or events but it works equally well to save tweets from individual users.
my god you sound like some one denouncing people to the gestapo, what kind of racist free hell would you create.. shocked both by that guy's tweets and some of the replies here..
Deleteme to,, what is this the new world order and before you lefty scum bags come baying for my blood my dad is a Jew and i have an Iraqi half sister who i love to bits.. I am not racist at all,,, but seriously you people are sick as sick as the racists tweeter if not sicker... Have you not got better things to do with your sad desperate life's. Your language on hear is so abhorrent and spewed like like venom from your conveyor belt dictate in to the world believing that what you say makes you some what superior to all around you... Somewhat a better person because you tow the political line.. With people like you ranting your abhorrent views to the world, what chance has society got. Next there will be a death penalty for this guy,,, and do you know what i really do believe that's how far you would go!!!! fascists the lot of you
DeleteI'm ashamed to say i share a university with this lowlife idiot. Thankfully i don't know him, have never met him, and have no intentions of meeting him. Just hope people don't start to associate the Uni with this sort of behaviour, as it is a great uni, which welcomes students from all over the world. i have been lucky enough to make friends from countries all over the world including Zimbabwe, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Romania, and many others during my time here.
ReplyDeleteHe claims to have been hacked, and i guess he is innocent until proven guilty, but whatever happens, let's hope for a swift and appropriate outcome, it's in the hands of the authorities so i'm sure they will get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, let's continue to pray for Muamba!
Rather excessive. I in no way agree but people should have the right to say truly offensive things. It is part of freedom of speech. It's a slippery slope to a total censorship society. Who is to decide what is offensive or racist in the end.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll find that will be the judge - hence they call them...judge
DeleteAgreed that the backlash is rather frightening, but I think it's a case of 'live by the sword, die by the sword...' If you post your most personal thoughts on the world wide web - everyone has access. If those thoughts happen to cause widespread shock, distress and disgust - it's definitely NOT funny. Once you start racially abusing those who express their disgust, then you could find yourself headed for a criminal court.
If you have any doubt as to whether they might have been borderline 'Suraez' type comments, I can assure you there is no doubt, this was a stream of the most foul racist abuse. Hopefully the 'die by the sword' bit will be enough to make the fellow thoroughly examine his inner self without leading to prolonged consequences, however now he has thrown his innermost thoughts out there, he may take more consequences than he genuinely deserves.
Like the poster above me, I have shared a university and both primary and secondary school with this dipshit. Although I have had no contact with him throoughout university, and walked the opposite way if I saw him coming I can say with no shadow of doubt that liam stacey has always been a vile person. He has always picked on people not just for race, but for anything that makes them different from him. As the poster above me says I guess he is innocent until proven guilty, but with his track record according to my observations I wouldn't be suprised if this turns out to be true, and if so the authorities will deal with him appropriately.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon Fabrice!
why doesn't twitter have an offensive word filter? it could protect objectionable drunks from themselves, tut the N word could be added, the guy said some horrible things that doesn't make him the anti christ.
ReplyDelete"Chirpstory is an excellent tool for grabbing a large number of tweets very quickly from either a particular user or a hashtag. Normally I use it to capture hashtagged tweets from conferences or events but it works equally well to save tweets from individual users"
my god is that where we are at now?
Oh well it even made the ITN news tonight and Mr Stacey has admitted making the remarks. Sentence next week.
ReplyDeleteI simply could not believe what I was reading and cannot understand how a so called human being can even have those thoughts.
Why is it unthinkable to live in a society where this type of abuse/ comment is not tolerated or legal? I am shocked by some of the responses on here that are horrified that people would want to record evidence of racial hatred - someone has to stand up to this nonsense
ReplyDeleteHe's a complete idiot, but more than that for admitting inciting racial hatred (a really setious crime).
ReplyDeleteFact, Racism is not illegal, when stated as a view.
Incitement ? requires intent (not present) or that it is likely caused. That relates to inciting violence which is really hard to prove. Incitement is pursuasion. It has to be hostility and telling people to hate (not simply expressing a view). People think and act for themselves. At the most it might be a minor communications offence.
Yes he was nasty , but consier this, are TV programs or films that show violence, inciting violencce ? are fictional books or computer games inciting violence ? are teachers in history ,,,,newspapers reporting violence, inciting it ?
He may be out of order, but what he did was less than any act of violence (even a push) and the Police state are using it to attack free speech.....
What he did was minimal !
56 days in prison for it.
ReplyDeleteSeems very excessive - if it had not been about the footballer, I can only guess it would have slipped under the radar and he would have only got a ticking off by the police and placed on a register somewhere.
Which if it was his first offence is probably about right.
Instead of being educated on what he's done wrong and given time to remorse and reform, he's now been pushed off the boat by society.
He is only 21 remember, having this on his record maybe has ruined his life in the UK not to mention his families for a silly mistake.
He's even had more 'column inches' than some murderers.
It's this type of sentencing and 'celebrity' witch hunt styled backlashes which will cause even more loss of faith in our justice system.
Since when was acting like a twat and saying twattish, disgusting things a jailable offence? This is like Nazi Germany.
ReplyDeleteUpon reading that Stacey got 56 days in prison for his tweets i thought 'that's a bit harsh'. Having read what he said and a bit of history on his tweeting behaviour i have to admit it sounds like it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
ReplyDeleteShame he's basically fucked his life up but why would you write something like that on Twitter? It's one thing to say it down the pub to your biogted pals but expressing your prejudice to the world is, evidently, an error.
"Since when was acting like a twat and saying twattish, disgusting things a jailable offence? This is like Nazi Germany."
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
this is not Nazi Germany but Nazi uk it has been for sometime now... And before the lefty bigoted self righteous scum come with there racists sticks and there homophobic guns and sexiest bombs and what ever else you can hit me with... I may i repeat am not a racists, but am a be leaver of free speech, i do not know this guy and see what he wrote as pathetic. I do not care about patrice muamba like i didn't care about pricess Diana or Michael jackson when they died.. I do not know these people or care about them so there fore i will not weep for them at all, though i do not wish them pain or hardship.
DeleteBUT JAIL FOR 56 DAYS is abhorrent and the judge should be tried for this as well,, what an absolute waste of tax payers money. The uk is finished and i can say hand on my heart i hate living hear now, i hate what we have become. This is not the first instance of over zealous politicly motivated persecution our courts have dished out, the list is huge!!!!!
I like the idea of sexiest bombs...
Deleteoh yes sorry for the bad spelling i am dyslexic as well, but hmmm sexiest bombs, puts a whole new dimension to war
ReplyDelete
