Sometimes I really love Twitter. This is especially true on the days when via that platform I encounter some truly interesting soul with a real talent.

That has happened today.

I already forget the exact route via which I stumbled upon a crazily brilliant Pennsylvania-based writer who goes by the handle of Powerpuss_ (aka Bubble Tits). Her profile says she's a pill popper, show stopper, panty dropper and very improper bed hopper. I don't know how many of these labels are accurate ones. What I do know is that this lady can WRITE. Since April this year, she's been offering up ample evidence of this on her blog, where she writes under yet another name, RavenLunatic.

If you're a fellow Bukowski fan, I urge you to read this woman's stuff.

If you dig the pained stylings of the great John Fante's son Dan, then, again, I urge you to check out the thus far small-but-wonderfully-formed oeuvre of this lady.

The rawness, the honesty and the lack of bullshit and pretension are a refreshing and brilliant slap in the face. It's fucking funny too. That writing like this was done by a female is more startling still. To me, anyway - a guy whose extensive reading has not covered too many writers of the fairer sex (I love Hertha Müller, though). A number of bad lads have written with this much gamble, madness, abandon and moxie down the years. The aforementioned Bukowski and Fante jr. are among them, plus chaps like Knut Hansen and Celine, albeit in the relatively more restrained lingo of past times. OK, so the poems of the wonderful Texas poet Misti Rainwater-Lites (mentioned here a good few times previously as an interesting writer, friend of my friend M.P. (Mike) Powers and co-creator with Mike of the crazy book Enrique's Motor Lodge Room #22) have plenty of zing. But in the prose form, if there's another woman anywhere writing with the unrestrained, hard-hitting truthful power of RavenLunatic, then that gal is so far wholly unknown to me.

I really hope she finds the time to write more stuff and longer pieces. I think she's fucking great.
