muggy

A week ahead of their first fixture back in the Premier League, QPR got mugged on a muggy Bedfordshire evening. Before the break, a first choice XI knocked the ball around fairly well and looked relaxed, with new boy DJ Campbell scoring in the opening seconds - with what appeared to be his very first touch of the ball as a Rangers player.

Wholesale changes in the second period saw all but two QPR players replaced. Clint Hill kept his place at left-back and, perhaps more surprisingly, given his famously poor injury record, Kieron Dyer, another of the Rangers' new signings, remained on the pitch. Dyer wore the No. 2 shirt and was indeed played at right-back in the first half. He was pushed higher up the pitch in the second half - and it was heartening to see his visible disappointment when attacking moves came to nothing, looking like a competitive player who really wants to win.

The Hatters, though, looked the more determined side and won the tie 3-1, to the delight of the home supporters.

A longer report will follow here at this is my england in due course. In the meantime, a few snaps of our evening out in Luton:

  1. Seriously good stuff, from a Luton fan. Great pics, and really nice to read about a trip to KR from an opposition point of view, especially when it's so articulately written.
